Terms of Service

Last updated June 13, 2026

These terms govern your use of clss — the marketplace at clss.io where students book live online classes with independent tutors. By creating an account or using clss, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the platform.

1. Who we are

clss (“we,” “us”) operates a marketplace that connects students with independent tutors for live online classes. We provide the platform — discovery, booking, the live classroom, messaging, and payments when they launch. Tutors provide the teaching. You can reach us anytime at admin@clss.io.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use clss.
  • If you are 13–17, you may only use clss with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, and we collect a parent email at signup for that purpose.
  • Tutors must be at least 18 years old.
  • You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and accept responsibility for activity on your account. We offer two-factor authentication in Settings and recommend enabling it.

3. Free early access

clss is currently in free early access: booking and attending classes costs nothing, and tutors are not charged platform fees. Paid features (including paid sessions and the recordings subscription) will be introduced later. We will give you clear notice before anything you use becomes paid, and nothing you did during free access will retroactively cost money.

4. Bookings, rescheduling, and cancellations

  • Bookings are confirmed instantly against the tutor’s published availability.
  • Sessions can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 24 hours before the start time. Inside 24 hours, contact your tutor through messages — rescheduling is at their discretion.
  • Tutors may cancel or reschedule too; we notify you by email when that happens.

5. The live classroom and recordings

  • Classes run in the clss classroom with video, audio, chat, and notes. Don’t record, capture, or redistribute a class through any means outside the platform.
  • Some sessions are recorded through the platform where the recording feature is enabled. Recordings are available only to that session’s participants under the access rules shown in the product, and to clss for safety and quality review.
  • In group classes, student audio and video are isolated from other students unless discussion mode is enabled for the class.

6. Acceptable conduct

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone on the platform.
  • Take clss relationships off-platform to circumvent it — we flag contact-info exchange in messages while payments and safety protections are platform-bound.
  • Misrepresent your identity, credentials, or qualifications.
  • Use clss for anything unlawful, or share content that is illegal or abusive.
  • Probe, scrape, overload, or attempt to breach the platform’s security.

Classes involving minors carry a higher bar: we may review recordings, messages, and reports, and we err on the side of student safety.

7. Tutors

  • Tutors are independent contractors, not employees or agents of clss. They set their own subjects, rates, and availability.
  • Tutors complete identity verification before appearing in search. Some tutors additionally show a “Background checked” badge where a check has been reviewed by our team. Verification reduces risk; it is not a guarantee.
  • Tutors must hold the qualifications they claim and keep uploaded credentials truthful and current.

8. Your content and our platform

You keep ownership of content you create on clss — profiles, messages, class materials, reviews. You grant us the license needed to operate the platform: hosting, displaying, and transmitting that content to the people you direct it to. The clss name, brand, and platform are ours; these terms don’t transfer any of that to you.

9. Problems between students and tutors

If something goes wrong in a session, use Report an issue on the session page. Our team reviews reports, may examine the session’s recording and messages, and will mediate in good faith. Once payments launch, dispute outcomes may include refunds; during free access, outcomes are limited to account and content actions.

10. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings — that cancels your future sessions and removes your profile. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, put others at risk, or abuse the platform, with notice where reasonable.

11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

clss is provided as-is. We don’t guarantee particular learning outcomes, tutor quality beyond our verification steps, or uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of your use of clss is limited to the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

12. Changes to these terms

We’ll update these terms as the product evolves — most notably when payments launch. For material changes we’ll notify you by email or in-product before they take effect. Continuing to use clss after a change means you accept it.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes with us that can’t be resolved informally — though we’d rather you email admin@clss.io first.
